About Faith Unplugged
Faith can get complicated.
Sometimes life does not turn out the way we prayed it would. Sometimes the church disappoints us. Sometimes God seems quiet. Sometimes we still believe in Jesus, but we are carrying questions we do not quite know what to do with.
Faith Unplugged is a place for those conversations.
I write about following Jesus in the real world, especially when faith is being tested rather than when everything is going according to plan. No pretending. No shallow answers to complicated questions.
Just honest conversations rooted in Scripture, centered on Jesus, and filled with the belief that God is still faithful even when we do not understand what He is doing.
Hi, I’m Chris
I’m a pastor, writer, worship leader, husband, and lifelong follower of Jesus.
I have spent most of my life serving in ministry. Today I serve as a pastor in Idaho, where much of my week is spent teaching Scripture, leading worship, developing leaders, and helping people take their next step toward Jesus.
But Faith Unplugged did not begin because I thought the internet needed another pastor with opinions. It grew out of conversations. Conversations with people who still loved Jesus but were not sure what to do with the church.
People carrying wounds caused by Christians they trusted. People praying prayers that seemed to go unanswered. People wondering whether doubt meant something was wrong with their faith. People trying to follow God while quietly wondering where He was.
I’ve had some of those questions too. Over the years, I have learned that strong faith is not faith that never struggles. It is faith that learns where to turn when the struggle comes.
That is the kind of faith I want to help people build.
Why Faith Unplugged Exists
I believe there are people who have felt left behind by organized religion but have not been left behind by God. Some need room to heal. Some need permission to ask a difficult question. Some need to rediscover Scripture without all the baggage that has accumulated around it.
And some simply need to be reminded that Jesus is still worth following. That is the heart behind Faith Unplugged.
I am not interested in helping people become better at religious performance. I want to help people know Jesus. To understand Scripture. To develop a faith strong enough to survive disappointment. To become healthier followers of Christ.
And when life gets difficult, to discover that grace is much bigger than they imagined.
What You’ll Find Here
I write about faith as it actually intersects with life.
That means we talk about things like church hurt, doubt, prayer, waiting on God, spiritual growth, Scripture, leadership, calling, relationships, disappointment, and the strange process of becoming more like Jesus.
Some articles answer questions. Some dig deeply into Scripture. Some tell stories. Some challenge assumptions. And sometimes I simply want to sit beside someone having a hard week and remind them of what is still true.
Most of what I write is free because I want these words available to the person who needs them.

One Thing I Hope You Remember
You do not have to pretend everything is okay to follow Jesus faithfully.
You can have questions and keep following. You can be hurt and keep healing. You can be disappointed and keep trusting. You can be waiting and keep living. And you can have a complicated history with the church without giving up on Jesus.
My hope is that somewhere in these pages you are reminded of something that is easy to forget when life gets loud:
God has not left you. Your hurt does not have to define you. And you can still walk with the One who carries you.
