Unlocking the Power of Biblical Affirmations
Our knowledge of who God is can change our thinking and make a huge difference in how we impact others.
I've been on this incredible journey as a worship leader for 25 years, wearing different hats and guiding congregations in various capacities. And let me tell you, the ride has been nothing short of amazing.
However, those in-between moments during worship sets have always kept me on my toes. You know, the moments where you're not singing, but there's a yearning to connect, to express something genuine and meaningful. The heart behind it is contextualizing the worship experience and drawing meaning from our songs and what God is showing us.
I wish it were easy to get up in front of people and always have something great to say. In all reality, it’s not easy. Now, I'll be honest - I've had my fair share of blank moments, standing there, wanting to say something impactful but drawing a total blank.
One thing I know for sure is that I lead from what I know. The overflow of God’s word powers every interaction on and off stage. When I’m studying God’s word and filling my mind with His life-giving and life-sustaining word, there’s a better chance that something I say in a conversation or on stage will be impactful.
I could plan these moments, but my heart says that would be disingenuous. Instead, I think of it as tapping into the wealth of scripture and letting the Holy Spirit guide those unscripted words to enhance the worship experience for everyone involved.
This is true for everyone. The more you feast on God’s word, the more it changes you. One thing that helps me is developing Biblical Affirmations for myself. These are statements that are rooted in scripture that we can meditate on.
If you are a believer, having a growing list of truths about God helps to strengthen your faith and fill your mind and heart with powerful truths of God’s word. I challenge you to think about these things and allow these affirmations from scripture to change your life.
